CrossFit USA Before and Afters

Welcome to our Before & After page!

Here are a couple of clients before and after they started training with our instructors.

Bryon

Here's the before and after of Bryon Beckwith.  Bryon has been training here at Crossfit USA for 6 months and has dropped over 20 lbs of bodyfat and has a 3.55 Fran. He is also a Groton firefighter and is training for a firefighter competition in this August.

Jim

Jim is a father of two in his mid fifties. His son works out at CrossFit USA and brought Jim down one Saturday for a little father-son row class. Jim has stuck around since. His starting weight was about 206 lbs and is currently 176 lbs. With the determination of someone half his age, he attacks every WOD head on! Great job Jim!

Dan

Dan is a Middletown Police Officer and had been doing his best to hit CrossFit WODs at his local globogym. One day his Mom drove by, saw our sign, and passed the word on we were open. Dan came in the next day and was our first member to join. He even brought a few friends with him to boot! His starting weight was about 211 lbs and is currently 176 lbs. Dan is one of the top athletes at CrossFit USA. He attacks every workout like a madman and gets giddy when he sees workouts that would make Rambo puke! Great job Dan, I can't wait until your Fran time is in the 2 minute range!

Glenn

Glenn has been a lifelong friend and workout partner of mine (former amateur bodybuilder) and his transformation brings to me a special form of pride. Since our teenage years Glenn and I have worked out together off and on. Life and family led to us away from our workouts together, and when I became CrossFit certified in July I shared with him the CrossFit philosophy. He started training on his own at L.A. Fitness, and when he first attempted Fran he needed the assisted chin-up machine to finish with a less than stellar time.  Since opening CrossFit USA in September, Glenn has been hitting the WODs hard and eating a lot cleaner.  His pictures and more importantly times/scores reflect his progress and hard work.  Great job Glenn, keep up the great work!

Joe

Joe wanted to get results quickly in a short period of time.  Here is what he had to say about his experience:

"...I started training with Merle about 9 months ago. I decided to get a personal trainer because I was tired of doing the same routine at the gym and I was unhappy with my body weight. Merle opened my eyes to a whole new world of fitness. He started to show me some crossfit exercises and got me on a good meal plan, I was hooked. I was always a strong kid and considered myself pretty athletic but now I am stronger more agile and have more endurance than I have ever had. I was able to lose 33lbs. Merle pushed me harder and farther than I ever could have gone alone and I loved every second..."

Michelle

Michelle was looking to lose some weight and feel better about herself.  Way to go Michelle!

"...I was looking for some individual instruction to get to a healthy weight before my  husband and I start our family.  I did not want to start a pregnancy at an unhealthy weight.  Working with Merle over the past 8 months, I've dropped 54 pounds and am now in the best shape of my life!  Merle pushed me hard and challenged me to go outside of my comfort zone and the hard work paid off.  Shopping for new summer clothes, especially my bikini is a lot more fun now.  Thanks Merle!"

Mike

Mike was looking to lose alot of weight before he got married but still keep up his busy lifestyle.  He stuck to our plan and it really shows.  Congrats Mike!

"...Before meeting Merle, I "worked out" at one of those cheap, low-cost, cookie cutter franchise gyms.  It was just like being back in high school gym class.  Most of the people were there to socialize or do the same boring, traditional workouts.  The equipment was OK, but really crammed together.  I just felt like a number.  Worst of all, the only instruction available was an intro session where they showed you around and told you not to drop any of the weights.  When I found out about Merle, I immediately switched gyms.  He is a great trainer who motivated me, taught me, and pushed me to new levels.  His personal attention and great coaching techniques allowed me to surpass my initial goal to lose 45 pounds before my honeymoon.  Most importantly he was always there to help motivate me to ensure I stuck with the plan we came up with.

Thank you Merle for your time and effort without which I would have never made as much progress!"
